What is the question that lies at the heart of my work?
Is the question just one?
Or are there many?
Am I the monk?
Or am I the dandy?
Is there a difference between the one and the other?
Am I the father of my boy or the son of my mother?
What is the question that lies at the heart of my work?

Biography

Born into the violent and depressing working class fringes of an industrial town in Austria, Frenk Lebel fell ill with Polio before the age of three. Paralyzed from the head down, he spent two years isolated in a remote hospital. At deaths door, he was very well aware that the out and out experiences he went through also contained the riches of a raw diamond. This gave the unique space, the touching angle, from which he talks to us in his affective songs, exploring the possibilities and impossibilities of life in song and sound, forever balancing on the tightrope between art and pop.

David Fricke, editor of US Rolling Stone magazine, listed one of Frenk´s works as  his favourite pop album of the year! (Rolling Stone 750/751, New York)

Frenk also attended the only songwriting class ever held by maestro Nick Cave, who acclaimed the „cohenesque quality“ of Frenk's lyrics.

In 2007, a demo version of Frenk's song, „Big Time“ found its way into the playlist of Austrian alternative radio station Fm4, made it to the top of the charts, was on powerplay for months and became one of the most played songs ever on Austrian broadcast ORF. All this although it was unreleased!

2009 saw live cooperations with Icelandic Singer/Songwriter Helgi Hrafn Jonsson (plays the trombone in Sigur Ros)
